The Gerber Out
function is used to create a set of data files on disk in RS-274-D (sometimes incorrectly referred to as RS-274-X) format for subsequent plotting by a Gerber photo plotter.
When you select this function, a dialog box will appear for the specification of the desired output data files.
An aperture list (wheel) is automatically created by the program before the Gerber output files are written.

Silk: The Silk tab defines the configuration of the output
data files that will be used to create the silk screen for the
production of the board.
Top Silk Screen
This group controls the creation of the Gerber file of the silk screening
layer for the top side of the circuit board. This layer normally contains
outlines of the components as well as reference designators for them. Once
considered to be an unnecessary luxury, silk screening is now a standard
part of the circuit board manufacturing process.
Bottom Silk Screen
This group controls the creation of the Gerber file of the silk screening
layer for the bottom side of the circuit board. This layer normally
contains outlines of the surface mount components that will be placed on
the bottom side of the board as well through hole chips and connectors that
are to be inserted from the bottom side of the board. Bottom side silk
screening is not considered necessary for single sided boards.
