DXF stands for DRAWING
EXCHANGE
FORMAT. The format was
first concocted by the authors of AutoCAD to help promote drawing file
translation to and from other software packages. Although the
encoding scheme is both verbose and cryptic, its complete format
has been published and thus is universally accepted.
CIRCAD's transparent import filtering allows you to read a DXF
file by simply selecting the desired file when using the
Open File function.
To write a DXF file, you must explicitly specify DXF format when
using the Save As ... function.
